Publication Offers

The organizers of LALS 2014 do not plan to publish a Proceeding volume. Authors are, however, invited to submit papers related to their conference topic to one of the following scientific journals:

The Journal of Biomedical Optics (JBO) has announced a special section Laser Applications in Life Sciences (http://spie.org/x1825.xml) dedicated to state-of-the-art research articles related to the following topics:

  • Biomedical imaging (optical coherence tomography, optoacoustics, elastic light scattering/manipulation of particles, diffuse optical imaging, microcirculation imaging)
  • Laser spectroscopy (infrared and Raman, clinical applications, fluorescence, terahertz spectroscopy, and imaging)
  • Laser-tissue interactions (femtosecond phenomena, light propagation, photodynamic therapy, low-level laser applications)
  • Light microscopy
  • Nanobiophotonics
  • Novel optical devices and methods.

Participants of the LALS conference, as well as other authors whose research is focused on laser biomedical applications, are invited to submit manuscripts.

Manuscripts due 1 September 2014.

JBO has a 2-year impact factor of 2.881 and a 5-year impact factor of 3.145. Authors who pay low voluntary page charges of $100 per published page receive open access for their article. All accepted articles are professionally copyedited and typeset. JBO is included in PubMed/Medline, Science Citation Index/Web of Science, Inspec, Scopus, and other leading abstracting and indexing databases.

IJMS (ISSN 1422-0067) is an open access journal providing an advanced forum for chemistry, molecular physics and molecular biology. It is published by MDPI online monthly and is freely available online. Manuscripts are peer-reviewed and published within a short average publishing period (60 days). IJMS is covered by leading indexing services, including PubMed (Medline), the Science Citation Index Expanded (Web of Science) and Chemical Abstracts. The most recent Impact Factor (IF) for the year 2012 is 2.464.A special issue on “Laser Applications in Life Sciences” will be reserved for peer reviewed papers related to LALS 2014 (5 top papers free of costs, further papers at a reduced price). Regular submissions are also welcome in this special issue.

Journal of Biophotonics covers the broad range of research on interactions between light and biological material. The journal offers a platform where the physicist communicates with the biologist and where the clinical practitioner learns about the latest tools for the diagnosis of diseases. As such, the journal is highly interdisciplinary, publishing cutting edge research in the fields of life sciences, medicine, physics, chemistry, and engineering with special emphasis on biomedical diagnosis. Manuscripts related to LALS 2014 are particularly welcome.
